Peach rosé, white tea, kiwi, guava candy - need we say more?

When Juan visited us last fall, we had an incredible opportunity to taste 20+ coffees from our friends of over ten years, Equation Coffee. This rare, new varietal stood head and shoulders above the others alongside our La Piragua Geisha.

The story of this farm is one of new horizons and pursuit of excellence. Finca Las Flores was started by Edilberto Vergara and Nubia Ayure in 1990. After dedicating 2 of the hectares of their farm to coffee growing, the family fully planted the coffee in 1998. Just a few years later, Nubia decided to enter their coffee into the Cup of Excellence, a prestigious producer comptition, and the farm placed 16th in the country of Colombia. Encouraged by this outcome, the family began pursuing specialty coffee. As the children of Edilberto and Nubia grew up, they took up the mantle. The siblings Jhoan, Carlos, Diego, and Jhoan renewed the crops and diversified the varietals. Now, they each specialize in a different part of growing and processing, which can be tasted in all of their coffee.
